It is one of the eldest industries in the world, well known for its international edge, tough character and huge ships. A sector that is pretty innovative when you look below the surface. Who are the women working in the maritime industry? The maritime sector is broad and has so many stakeholders: from ports to builders of offshore support vessels and yachts and from suppliers of dredging pumps to inventors of new handling tools.

Balancing between global opportunities, the pressure for a more sustainable industry and the ongoing technological improvements, the sector offers interesting challenges. What does it take to be a female game changer in this industry? During the evening we will talk about the current developments in the maritime world and why it needs more women on board.

Program

The first speaker is Josefien Groot, co-founder of Qlayers, a company that builds hardware for the automated application of coatings. Coatings are a necessity in the maritime industry. The team also worked together with the TU Delft Solar Boat Team.

Our second speaker is Rachel Terry, project manager in the offshore wind industry for long standing company Van Oord. The renewable energy market is a game changer in its own and contributes to the Paris climate deal.

The evening start at 19h00 and lasts until 22h00. Before the break the two speakers will tell you all about their international job and personal challenges in a tough industry. After a short break the program is even more interactive and you will have the take the floor to tell your story and/or in ‘dare to ask’.

Before, in between, and after the keynotes there will be great moment to connect to each other, exchange ideas, discuss and support challenges in business. Drinks and small bites are included.

Invitiation for whom?

All ambitious women who want to grow (further) professionally and want to help others grow, are welcome. Whether you have a long track record at a large corporate, whether you are a student, an entrepreneur since long or just starting. Young, young of mind, experienced or less experienced. Men are most welcome.
